Hi, welcome to Bfree Photography and to my first post. In this week post I will give you some tips about what to choose in your wardrobe for a perfect photo session.

First of all, I always advise to wear what makes you feel yourself. We all wear different outfits in different times of the day, to work, to a night out, at home or even for a morning walk. But there is a moment where you fill yourself with that gorgeous shoes, that comfy hoodie or perhaps that light shirt you use for summer time, you wouldn't want to feel naked without you favourite watch, right? That works for all of us ladies, gents and kiddos. So doesn't matter what other people looks like in their photos, you are unique and you will look great in your own skin.

However, probably you have a full wardrobe and "nothing" to wear, but fear not, with these tips certainly you will find loads of perfect elements for your photo session.

Tip 1 Layers & Textures

Texture is a powerful add in photo sessions. It makes more interesting photos, adding detail and depth, specially in black and white images.

Different layers of different textures in monotone colour palette or just pops of colour looks great.

Layers allow dynamics in the session and creates different looks easily. A coat and a blouse can create a classy picture while taking the coat out and hair up will refresh the look and create a completely different photo.

Tip 2 Accessories

Accessories can be the final touch in a photo. Allows multiple looks without loads of wardrobe changes.

Thinking out of the box can create a unique shoot. A knitted blanket on the shoulders create a cosy atmosphere. A necklace in the back gives an artistic touch. Scarves, hats, head bands even a book can make the difference.

In my point of view accessories don't necessarily mean fashion accessories. Depending on your hobbies, profession, personal tastes, other elements

can be added in your photos turning them in an reflection of the soul.

Tip 3 Fluid Fabrics/Loose clothes

I love the flow that light fabrics provide to the picture. The way they follow the movement and go with the wind, the way they fall, creates wonderful photos.

A scarf,a loose blouse or long dress will stand out while you will feel comfy.

The beauty of loose clothes made of light fabrics is that they are versatile. They are not limited to the body shape. They can be used in different ways, they add natural look, sometimes a bit of mess looks amazing.

Tip 4 A pinch of colour

A colourful element can liven the picture, specially when the surrounding has soft colours.

Shoes, flowers, ribbons, with vibrant colours, can break the monotony giving a special touch. Clothes with vibrant colours, if carefully combined also make amazing pictures specially allied to texture. The important is to coordinate the colours to achieve harmony pics.

It is also great for family and couples photos. The outfits should coordinate however not match. Matching outfits usually look boring or, in other hand shocking, depending if the colours used are soft or vibrant.

Tip 5 Pattern

Don't be afraid of patterns. They add visual interest in the picture, plus, depending the background, they stand out. However not every patterns are great. Just depends on the pattern itself, the background, if it is a single portrait or a family.

For group pictures, patterns should be used carefully. Will look great if just one person is wearing a pattern element while the others wear solid colours.

Monotones patterns are the best choice. They will be easier to coordinate with the background and will give a charming look. Multi colour patterns can also be used, just need an extra attention to the surrounding.

I hope you had enjoyed those tips and you found them useful. Stay tuned to my next weekly posts. See you next week:)
